Nonprofit alliance with iJET to Educate and Protect Young Travelers
through Global Safe Haven Network

April 27th, 2005 – The Alyson Ilene Kaplan Foundation (AIKF) today announced an alliance with iJET® Intelligent Risk Systems, a leader in enterprise risk management technology and integrated crisis response services, to provide travel-related intelligence and emergency assistance for young adults traveling in the United States and abroad.

AIKF has established a Global Safe Haven Network (GSHN), which consists of easily identifiable “safe havens” – such as hotels, fast-food restaurants, and rental car chains – where young travelers can go if they find themselves in distress. At these safe havens, travelers will have access to GSHN’s emergency hotline, which will provide them with immediate and comprehensive information and advice on any problem, from medical issues, transportation failure and separation from travel groups or partners, to the need for emergency funds. “In essence, the Global Safe Haven Network provides young travelers with a secure environment to make informed decisions when traveling in unfamiliar surroundings,” explained Donald Kaplan.

AIKF’s strategic alliance with iJET will provide both free and membership-based services to young travelers and their families. The overarching goal is to prepare trip leaders, families, and young adults for travel though education. GSHN will serve to:

• Develop and disseminate a variety of educational materials and offer resources to make young people aware of travel threats and risks and to help them plan for their own security.

• Ensure that, in the event of any incident or cancellation of a trip, travelers, families, leaders, and support providers can successfully communicate with one another and, if necessary, prepare for the safe return of the traveler.

• Offer access to a comprehensive website with continuously updated travel advisories and destination intelligence. Once a traveler logs in and enters his or her itinerary, iJET will provide the traveler with information and daily travel advisories specific to their planned itinerary.

“The Global Safe Haven Network provides a meaningful opportunity for us to extend our educational and protective services to young adults,” said iJET Chairman and CEO Bruce McIndoe. “We are proud to be part of such a meaningful cause.”

###

The Global Safe Haven Network is being developed in loving memory of Alyson Kaplan, a twenty-year-old college student, who became stranded in England when a winter storm interrupted her travel itinerary. Lost in an area outside of London wholly unfamiliar to her, Alyson sought aid from someone she met at a train station, and thought she could trust, who later murdered her. Her parents, Donald and Joanne Kaplan, created the non-profit Alyson Ilene Kaplan Foundation (AIKF) to help reduce the risks associated with travel through extensive education and protective resources for young travelers.
